Backstory: Reese had been an orphan since before she could remember. Just another statistic when it came to babies left at the doors of churches who were then thrown into the foster system. At first, she was bounced from house to house, never staying in a family for more than a few months at a time. But when she turned eight, she caught the attention of what looked like, a good family that wanted to take her on long term. Suddenly she found herself with two older brothers, a sister and a mum and dad. The first few weeks went well and she settled in to her umpteenth pretend home. The only belongings she owned was a small backpack where she kept her most cherished items. One of them was a fluffy white toy rabbit called Michael that she never went anywhere without.
One night things changed and the family showed their true colours. Her foster dad barged into her room, angry and loud, and yanked her out of bed. He beat her until he was bored and then went to bed. Her foster mum then came into the room to clean her up, telling her it was her fault for angering him, and that she should learn to do as she was told. This happened every Thursday night. Every time she stayed silent during the beating and cleaning. She just held onto Michael tightly and wished she could disappear. Each time, she grew more and more terrified of that night. So much so, that when she was left alone after the clean up, she would put pillows under the blankets to look like she was sleeping there. Then she’d crawl under the bed with Michael in her arms and cry herself to sleep. Her foster siblings were just as bad. They teased and laughed at her injuries, telling her she deserved it all.
Months passed, and her ninth birthday came around, which just so happened to fall on a Thursday. There was no cake or presents from her family. Instead she was sent to bed early. So she secretly took a piece of paper and a fancy fountain pen she had seen her mum use once, so she could draw her own birthday cake and make a wish. That night, he came into her room and yanked her out of bed as normal. But this time, he threw Michael across the room and grabbed her by the throat. What he failed to see was the metal pen she still had in her other hand. After the constant abuse at the hand of the man she called dad, she did the most natural thing that came to her mind. She slammed the sharp pen in to the side of his neck. Instantly, she was released as he fell to the floor, clutching his neck as his blood spilled. She watched curiously as the man she had once feared bleed out. The life fading from his eyes. It was in that moment that she realised he wasn’t so scary after all, the fear that crossed his face, in those last moments, putting the tiniest of smiles on her lips. This was the best birthday wish she could have ever asked for and she gave it to herself. There was no more fear. No more pain. No more crying because of this man. He couldn’t hurt her anymore because he was gone. He was a dead monster now. She leaned over and pulled the pen from his neck, packing it into her back pack, before picking up Michael.
As she left her bedroom, her mother’s eyes widened in fear at the sight of her covered in blood. Reese ducked her head and hurried down the stairs, heading out into the night. The sounds of her mother screaming were the last things she ever heard from that house. It only took a few hours before the police caught up with her, and for the story hit the news. The police were at a loss as to how and why a nine year old child could kill her father.

Personality: Reese was quiet and usually kept to herself when she was younger. Many people thought her to be introverted, due to how withdrawn she was as a child. But after her first few weeks since being recruited, she started to come out of her shell. Nowadays, Reese has become more outgoing. She will have a drink and a laugh with the boys or watch a movie and chill. But she still has her quiet moments, those moments where she is a little off. She also, of course has her crazier moments, where all she wants to do is mess with those outside her unit, but most of the time she keeps restrained. Even if it has to be done by those in her unit, sometimes.

Reason for joining the Grimm Mercenaries?: After the killing of her father, she was taken to the police station with a social worker present and interrogated about what happened. Throughout all the questions she just sat there, still in her bloody pyjamas, and petted Michael’s fur. Finally, when the social worker grew quiet she looked up at him. Her expression was blank for a moment. She fiddled with Michael a little longer before placing the bloody fountain pen on the table, uttering three words to him with a smile. “He deserved it”. Horrified, the social workers and police moved out of the room to discuss what the next step for her, and where she would be taken. That was when somebody else joined her inside the interrogation room. It was a woman who introduced herself to Reese as the Fairy Godmother. She told her stories of a place where she would be safe. It was a special place, where she would never again be hurt by her family. A small smile touched her lips as Reese took her hand, never looking back as they walked out of the station.
Years passed, and Reese has become a very skilled assassin, especially for up close and personal kills. Of course, this is thanks to her training as one of the Grimm orphans. Her specialty is using any sharp or pointy objects, with the occasional suppressed hand gun thrown in. At the age of twenty one, she was placed in the Oz unit, having been held back due to mental instability when most others joined at the age of eighteen. She has settled in well, but is still considered the baby of the group.
